Avoid being a Victim of Crime

Vehicle Security

Some advise on keeping you and your love ones safe:

As we all have heard or have been a victim of our vehicle being stolen or broken into by a thief.

*Lock all vehicle doors, roll up windows; even if it's in front of your home or just making a quick stop at a gas station, convenience store.

*Be especially alert at intersections, gas stations, ATMs, shopping malls, convenience and grocery stores - These are windows of opportunities for carjackers and thieves.

*Use auto deterrents such as car alarms; kill switches, steering wheel and column devices.

*Do not leave driver's license, registration, or insurance ID in your vehicle.

*Park in well-lit areas with good visibility close to walkways, stores and people.

*Never leave your car running or the keys in the ignition when you're away from the car, even if it's for "just a minute".

* Approach your car with the key in hand. Look around and inside the car before getting in.

*When driving, keep your car doors locked and windows rolled up at all times.

*Be especially alert at intersections, gas stations, ATMs, shopping malls, convenience and grocery stores - These are windows of opportunities for carjackers and thieves.

*If the carjackers or thief has a weapon, give up the car and/or property immediately. Your life is worth more than the car.
